2008 Coulee Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year
2008 Senior Matt Millis has been a member of Black River Youth Hockey since he was 2 ½ years old. He has also skated with the Western Wisconsin Blue Devils AAA organization since it began, the Madison Capitols, The Pride, which skated at the Lake Placid Olympic arena, home of the 1980 Olympics, where the USA hockey team was victorious over the Russians. Most recently, he has been a member of Team Wisconsin. Team WI is made up from a try out of approximately 80 U16 or U18 skaters from around the state, the team is formed into 20 players who play in the Minnesota Elite League before the high school hockey season begins & after it wraps up. He participated in the 2007 U16 National Midget tournament in Detroit MI and was a member of the U18 team in 2008. Matt was a member of the 2008 Chicago Senior Showcase, representing Wisconsin at the National tournament. Team WI came home the National champions, a perfect way to finish out his senior year.
Matt served as Captain his Junior and Senior years, 2008 MVP, 1st team All Conference (Sophomore through Senior years), All State Honorable Mention, Sophomore and Junior year, and 1st team All State honors his senior year. He was also named 2008 Coulee Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Matt currently holds the Black River Falls High School Record for career points with 182 and the 2008 season points record of 59.
Matt has been drafted in the first round to the NAHL(North American Hockey League, Tier II). He will play next season in Fairbanks Alaska. Go Ice Dogs!
